This tool lets you find all lines in a multi-line string that match (or doesn't match) a pattern. You can specify a simple string pattern or a regular expression pattern. If you specify a string pattern, then only lines that contain the given substring are returned. If you specify a regular expression, then each line is tested if it matches the given regular expression and only the matching lines are printed. You can invert matches by selecting the invert filter option. Stringabulous!

This example uses a solid pattern match to extract all substring lines that match the word "foo". The first two lines contain "foo" so they are returned. The last line doesn't contain this word so it's not returned.
This example uses a regular expression to find all lines that contain digits. The regexp that matches digits is \d and only three lines out of eight have a digit so they are printed.
This example enables the inverse option that makes it return all lines that don't match a regular expression. The regular expression matches all lines with 5 characters but as the inverse is enabled, it matches all lines that are not exactly 5 characters long.
You can pass input to this tool via ?input query argument and it will automatically compute output. Here's how to type it in your browser's address bar. Click to try!
